Couple Updates
Yesterday I received the two fur-saver collars I ordered from Hallmark K9 on Friday (standard shipping…nice and fast). Jim Hill, the owner, even dropped me a call to clarify a question I had sent him via email since the order was different than what I was asking (Chrome verses Stainless Steel). Second order I’ve placed with Hallmark K9 and would recommend them for your ‘dog’ needs.
Isaac is 6 months old and weighs 62 lbs so I ordered the 21″ and 23″ fur-saver collars. The 21″ fits (maybe a fuzz loose). Once he’s done growing and I know what size I’ll need I’ll purchase the Stainless Steel version. If you’re ordering one keep in mind that Herm Sprenger collars are measured from outside of ring to outside of ring. Keep in mind NO COLLARS in Kennel or Crate or when your beast isn’t supervised!
Diarrhea
Regarding the Diarrhea issue I’m convinced it has to be his teeth. I know it seems strange, but every time he seems to ‘cut’ new teeth he gets the squirts. Or it’s just some type of strange coincidence. This time the first time he exploded I gave him half an Imodium and then when he exploded 3 hours later I gave him the other half, fasted him 24 hours (he got water and more rest than normal) then begin normal feeding the following day and had logs that evening and has been fine since. I can’t seem to figure out which are the new giant teeth and which ones still need to come out….if I find useful tips I’ll post them. The only other thing I notice is that when he gets diarrhea his eyes tend to run a little. Not anything anyone would probably notice but they do tend to produce a little clear liquid.
Training
I did work him with some summer sausage early last week and I don’t think that caused the loose stool, but moved back to kibble anyway. I’ve been working him with kibble every day (haven’t been tracking too much) and still working with PLAY. The only issue we are having is my inability to feed him accurately with my left hand (I’m beyond uncoordinated). It’s gotten better than the pictures in this post, but it’s still the weakest link in the process (poor dog having to tolerate my ineptitude).
Lastest Read
The latest book I’ve been reading is:
SCHUTZHUND OBEDIENCE: TRAINING IN DRIVE by Gottfried Dildei & Sheila Booth
I would recommend it highly (nothing earth shattering, but well worth the price of admission)
